Always-On-Top Teleprompter App for macOS Users

An always-on-top teleprompter stays visible no matter which app you click into next. Telepront uses a native macOS floating panel with an elevated window level, so your script floats above Zoom, Google Meet, Safari, Keynote, OBS, and Final Cut Pro. It's free, native Swift, and works on every Mac running macOS 14 or later.

See It in Action

Always-on-top behavior on macOS is more nuanced than on Windows. macOS exposes window levels through AppKit, and ordinary windows sit at the normal level where any other app can cover them. Telepront uses a panel set to a higher level so it remains visible above standard application windows, even when you click another app and shift focus.

This matters during recordings. When you're reading from a script and switch to your webcam preview, a normal window would disappear behind it. Telepront stays in place, so your eyeline never drops to find the prompt. The same applies when joining Zoom, Meet, or Teams calls in windowed mode: the prompter floats over the meeting UI without interfering with screen share.

The panel is a true non-activating panel, which means clicking on it does not pull focus away from your active app. You can keep typing in another window while Telepront scrolls. Combined with the live opacity slider, you can make the script as subtle or as solid as you need.

Telepront ships as a free native Swift app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 14 or later. Speech recognition runs entirely on-device using Apple's framework, so the always-on-top window can also follow your voice without sending audio anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Telepront stay on top of Zoom in full-screen?

Yes when Zoom is in windowed or 'Use Dual Monitors' mode. For native macOS full-screen Spaces, place Telepront on the same Space or use Zoom in windowed mode.

Does always-on-top work over Mission Control?

Mission Control briefly takes over the screen, but Telepront returns above your apps as soon as you select a window.

Can I disable always-on-top temporarily?

Yes. There is a toggle in the toolbar to drop the window to a normal level when you need to focus on a different app.

Will it block me from clicking apps behind it?

No. The panel only captures clicks on the script itself. You can drag, resize, or set lower opacity to keep the area behind it usable.

Is it really free?

Yes. Telepront is free on the Mac App Store, no subscription or watermarks.

Ready to try it?

Free on the Mac App Store. No account needed.
