Teleprompter That Works With macOS Stage Manager

Stage Manager organizes your Mac into focused window groups, but a normal app gets pulled into a stack and disappears when you switch focus. Telepront uses a floating panel that sits outside the active Stage Manager group, so your script stays pinned while you swap between apps. Free, native, and built for macOS 14 and later.

See It in Action

Stage Manager debuted in macOS Ventura and changed how the Mac handles overlapping windows. Apps you bring forward become the active group, while other apps slide off to a thumbnail strip. This is great for focus, but it makes a regular teleprompter window inconvenient: every time you switch to your camera or notes, the prompter goes away.

Telepront avoids that by living in a non-activating panel. The panel is not part of any Stage Manager group, so when you click another app stack, the prompter stays in place above the new active group. You don't have to add it manually, ungroup it, or pin it.

For layout, snap-to-edge plays nicely with Stage Manager's left-side strip. Snap to the right or top edge so the strip stays unobstructed. You can also shrink the panel to a narrow column when you're reading short captions, or expand it for longer scripts.

Everything runs locally. Speech recognition is Apple's on-device model, opacity and font are stored in user defaults, and the app is sandboxed for the Mac App Store. Free, no account, no telemetry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Stage Manager hide the teleprompter when I click another group?

No. Telepront uses a panel-level window that floats above all Stage Manager groups, so your script stays visible regardless of which stack is active.

Where should I place the window with Stage Manager on?

Stage Manager reserves a strip on the left for window thumbnails. Snap Telepront to the right edge or top to keep both visible.

Will resizing my Stage Manager group affect the prompter?

No. Telepront is independent of Stage Manager geometry; resize the prompter manually or use snap-to-edge to fit a new layout.

Can I keep different teleprompter setups per Stage Manager group?

Telepront keeps a single floating window across groups. Save scripts you reuse and switch between them with the script picker.

Is there a cost?

No. Telepront is free on the Mac App Store with no in-app purchases.
